Matt and Katie were married on June 8, 2007. They’ve been blessed with three happy, energetic, and fun-loving boys. As a family, we love to do movie nights in our living room with a picnic supper, dimmed lights, and popcorn. The boys even like to add some “mood lighting” with flashlights! LOL! We go for walks together as a family when the weather is nice and love to play outside on our play set, play baseball or football in the backyard, or ride bikes in the driveway. We visit friends in Michigan a couple times a year and visit Great Grandma, Nana, Opa, and aunts and uncles in northern Indiana often.
Matt: Grew up in Rensselaer, Indiana as the oldest of four. Graduated from Ball State University with a major in Telecommunications and then went back to school to get his Masters Degree in Digital Storytelling. He now works at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville as the Assistant Director of Video Production. He loves what he does every day and enjoys the spiritual discussions that come up just from doing his everyday job. Matt enjoys relaxing and watching a movie after the kids are in bed but you may also find him following a Cubs baseball game or Red Wings hockey game on his phone. Matt’s humor keeps the mood light and his energy to run and play with the kids after getting home from work is unheard of. He makes memories with his family every day.
Matt and Katie attend Northside Christian Church in New Albany and lead a life group that meets once a week with other couples that have young families. It’s an amazing support team to be a part of – to encourage one another while doing our best to raise Godly families.
Katie: Grew up in Corydon, Indiana as the youngest of three with extended family all over the place! She has a half brother and sister nearby who have their own families and aunts and uncles from Maryland to Florida. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Telecommunications and minors in Film and Digital Media. After Jackson was born, priorities changed and she became a stay-at-home mom by choice. She loves that she gets to enjoy as much time with her kids as possible. She loves family time, decorating cakes, cookies, and cupcakes with a side business called Katie Cakes Bakery, crafting, and organizing. Katie also volunteers in the nursery at church on the weekends. In the afternoons, you may find Katie sharing a cup of coffee with her mom who lives close with her dad. The two of them have been very helpful and supportive in raising the kids beyond what we could ever repay them for. She loves to find ways to make her kids feel special whether it’s spending one-on-one time with them, hanging up a piece of their artwork on the wall, or just extra cuddles and kisses. She loves her kids!
Jackson: Eight years old and loves school. He wants to be a scientist when he grows up and loves doing science experiments whenever given the chance. Lego building and reading are big pastimes for Jack. He loves being the oldest and does a lot to take care of his younger siblings. He loves babies and asks often how soon we’ll be getting a baby sister!
Harrison: Seven years old and hasn’t stopped talking since he figured out how to make noise with his mouth. Doesn’t know a stranger and will tell you everything you didn’t care to know about Harry Potter, Ninjago, or Skylanders, LOL! He loves to cuddle, draw pictures, and do crafts. He tells everyone about the baby sister we’re going to adopt and how he hopes it’s soon!
Emerson: Loves dinosaurs and pile-ups on the floor, this thee year old toddler will roar at you and challenge you to a race! He loves Lightning McQueen, Blaze and the Monster Machines, and Mickey Mouse. When we sit to read a book together, he requests we read it over and over until he can “read” it to himself from memory. Emerson had really bad reflux when he was a baby and we’ve been battling with asthma and allergies which have put him in the hospital for three different stays. Thankfully, the reflux calmed shortly after he turned one and he’s under a specialist’s care for his asthma and allergies that are under control now. This little goober may not be as excited for a baby to come in the house and take the spotlight away from him, but when we sees a baby when we’re out, he’ll say, “Awww, look! A baby! Awww, the baby so cute!” which sounds much more adorable in his little voice. 🙂
Zoom: Yeah, he’s a dog but still a big part of the family! A rescue dog from Kentucky that’s part Collie and part black Labrador Retriever, he is the best family dog we could ever ask for. He’ll sit by your side and wait (impatiently) to be petted but will also sit or lie very still while Emerson pats him on the head saying “Good boy, Zoom” or while the boys attempt to use him as a pillow.
This family circle is only going to get bigger and with so much more love to give!
